The story of how I found the true or real truth of the word of God was a miracle. I’m a husband and a father and the well-being of my family is very important to me. I served in the military for 25 years and I believe everything that happened in my life was the work of God. While I was stationed in Rock hill SC as an army recruiter, my family and I were attending a local Sunday church. We were happy but I started to ask for wisdom from the Lord in my life. I found myself questioning what the pastor was preaching. It just didn’t lineup with the Bible.
Every Sunday after service I would challenge what was heard from the pastor and this made my wife upset. She said that I was “stealing her joy”. The questions that I had were: What happens when you die, speaking in tongues and what is the true Sabbath day. This started to cause problems in my house but at the time the truth was more important to me.
One day on my way to work I stumbled on the Bible Answers Live radio broadcast, it provided answer to the questions that I had and the answers were from the Bible. It all came to a head when my wife and I were invited to the home of one of my fellow church friends when she said, “why don’t you tell them what you have been studying”. I could not believe what she said. Well, I started telling him what I was finding and he asked, “ Are you talking about Seventh Day Adventist?" Do you know that they are a cult?” I said that the denomination didn’t matter but the truth is what was important.
Well, while we were talking I saw his wife ask my wife “ Is he driving you crazy?” and she said YES! That hurt me. I started to question myself, so when we arrived home, before bed, I went into the bathroom and laid flat on my face. I wanted to get as low and humble as I could and asked the Lord to show that I’m doing the right thing, because it was killing my family.
The next day was Sunday and I served as an usher. Before the pastor started to preach he called me and my wife to the front of the congregation and said, “ The Holy Spirit told him to tell me that what I was doing was right”. When I heard that I almost passed out. My wife looked at me like she was amazed because she told me that she prayed for the same thing. That was our last time going to a Sunday church and for the last seven years me and my family serve the Lord on His Sabbath.
I was so blessed to have God touch me ... out of this whole big universe God spoke to us, a speck of dust on a tiny blue marble.
